This adorable duo was so much fun. Her big sister so happily wanted to participate in her newborn session that I could probably shoot her all day, she is that sweet and cute and was very cooperative. She probably wouldn’t mind. LOL I adored these two!

Preparing For Your Session

Getting The Most From Your Session

A bit of planning and preparation will help you get the most from your newborn portrait session. Here are a few tips that will help make your session a success.

A Full, Sleepy Baby For Squishy Poses

Those adorable newborn poses you love are easiest when your baby is full and sleepy. Keeping your baby active and awake with a bit of extended play time on the morning leading up to your session, plus a feeding 2-3 hours before your session start time, helps gently lull your baby into a nice deep sleep. During the session, I also keep the studio very warm to make baby comfortable and sleepy.

Dress Your Baby Loosely

Loose diapers, a loose fitting wrap, or a loose, easily removed sleeper are ideal clothing choices. Loose-fitting clothing should eliminate red marks on baby’s skin, and is less distracting for baby when pulled off for your session.

I just love when they smile. It’s always a winning shot lol And he was so content in all his poses we did during his first session with me. Meet Fransisco, I love all his dark hair and the colors that his Momma chose.

I like to see newborns within the first two weeks and recommend scheduling before you deliver with a tentative date based on your due date. Scheduling with me in your last trimester is recommended. If you have already delivered please contact me for available dates.

Although, I always recommend scheduling your newborns session with me within the first two weeks, it is never too late to document these fleeting moments. Miss Eli here at 6 weeks definitely proved my point. Sometimes bringing them in early isn’t an option. I am always baby led, meaning I follow your babies cues of what they like and don’t like and not all newborns enjoy every pose. Sometimes they need more time to fall asleep and others decide they’re going to be awake for two+ hours HAHA!

Either way, don’t forget to document this precious time with them because they won’t be fitting snuggled in your arms. Be sure to schedule and contact me soon to book 😉

What a year it has been and it seems the years have sped up and I am trying to slow them down to savor all the little moments life has to offer these days. Anyone else feeling the same? With almost 20 years now of being in this sweet business of mine, I am pause more often to see where growth has taken place. For one, I don’t fret the small stuff anymore. What will be, will be and God takes cares of the rest. I do continue to push myself and try something new. Whether it be with posing newborns, new lighting techniques or new props, these are all things that make this business so enjoyable to me.

I am thankful for each client that comes through my doors and the joy of snuggling their little one still has me loving this business as much as I ever did. SO here is just a few of my favorites from this past year. With that said…

We had to make him a bunny for Easter and doesn’t he make the cutest bunny ever?! LOL I love it! Our sweet Peter Rabbit. Meet Carson, 6lbs of pure cuteness! I love the soft blue and grey in his gallery. He was putty in my hands.

Isn’t she just adorable?! Meet Lily. I love all her hair. Mom and Dad are Dr.’s at Banner Medical Center so of course we had to add an image with dads stethoscope.

I love meeting all these babies being a Wilmington newborn photographer and serving other areas such as Peoria, Goodyear and Surprise, Arizona.
